LEPSFL - Division 2

Eccleston & Heskin 0 Theatre Boys 3 (Played at Frenchwood)

With Theatre still pushing for promotion to Div 1, E & H faced another demanding fixture and still needing at least a point to keep their division 2 status in their own hands.

Although still with several players missing through injury, E & H looked bright in the first half and Matt Currie, Darren Thompson and Martin Kershaw all came close to giving them the lead. However in spite of having the bulk of the possession the score remained 0 - 0 at half time.

The second half was similar to the first with E & H having the bulk of the play without really testing the Theatre keeper. As has been the case over the past few weeks E & H fell behind just when they looked likely to succeed. After a period of sustained pressure by Eccy, Theatre broke clear and took the lead in the 70th minute. Although perhaps against the run of play it was however a excellent goal by the Theatre striker. The goal gave the Theatre side the lift they needed and although E & H pushed more and more players forward they were unable to create an opening for an equaliser.
A final period of all out attack left Eccy exposed and in the 88th minute Theatre secured their victory with a second goal. In the second minute of stoppage time it was 3 - 0.

Whilst the side finished the game dispirited other results went their way and and should ensure that they will compete in Divison 2 next season.

With the pool back to full strength E & H will be confident of competing at the other end of the table next season.
